Craigslist scam alert

Recently, some of our missionaries have had their online profiles used in craigslist rental scams. If you receive an email from a craigslist post with a link to one of our missionaries, please flag that post as fraudulent on craigslist. You can send a message to any of our missionaries through their web pages to double check the authenticity of posts that claim to be from them.

Typically, rental scams usually take place when there are unusual circumstances, such as someone trying to rent an apartment from out of the country. Never send money via wire transfer for rent, and always meet the landlord personally. If a deal sounds too good to be true, and it involves someone who is not in the country, it is almost certainly a scam.

If you're one of our missionaries and you have questions about this, please send a message to Rory Tyer, VP of Marketing. Thank you for supporting the work of Global Outreach around the world, and please be diligent, and pay close attention to advice on avoiding scams, when using sites like craigslist.
