“Addressing the unmet physical and spiritual needs of the vulnerable in Kitwe, Zambia”
In 2014 the Day family moved to Kitwe, Zambia to serve at Chande Baptist Orphan Project to develop a clinic and community outreach ministry. Upon completion of the Chande Medical Project, they answered God’s call to join Faith Children’s Village, which is a rural orphanage in the Kakolo community located just outside Kitwe.
Robert and Brandi have three children Artem (21), Colbey (18) and Hannah (14). Hannah serves with her parents in Zambia, while her brothers live Stateside. As a family physician, Robert’s primary role at Faith Children’s Village is to establish a sustainable healthcare program that fulfills the above vision by offering medical care to the whole person. Faith Medical Centre is to be the central medical facility for Kakolo that will offer the primary medical services for a 10km2 area. The James 1:27 mandate to care for orphans and widows is central to the medical ministry and the mission of FCV. Additionally, Robert will facilitate the training and multiplication of community health evangelism (CHE) in Kakolo, which integrates discipleship and basic health education. CHE fosters empowerment, development and lasting transformation to impoverished people. Brandi’s primary role is to homeschool Hannah who has entered her high school years. Brandi will also support FCV in administrative tasks related to child sponsorship and communication. She is excited to develop relationships with the children and staff at FCV.
Together these ministries will bring community development and the hope of Christ to the vulnerable. The Days are committed to relational discipleship and evangelism that involves serving and walking alongside the hurt and needy while affirmed their worth, restoring their dignity, meeting their deepest needs and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ.
