John and Rebecca moved to Jinja, Uganda, in May 1999 with their two young sons. They now have five children, three of whom are married to wonderful spouses, and three grandchildren.
Since 1999, John has served with Global Theological Seminary (GTS) as Faculty, Vice President, President, Academic Dean, and Global Outreach Ministry Site Supervisor. Although the family lived in Kijabe, Kenya, for nine years while working at Rift Valley Academy and Moffat Bible College, John regularly traveled back and forth to GTS, continuing to work with its faculty and administration.
Now that all five of their children are grown and currently living in the United States, John’s full-time focus has returned to Jinja at GTS. When he is not teaching in person or traveling to preach and teach about missions, he teaches GTS courses via video and carries out his responsibilities as Academic Dean and Ministry Site Supervisor from Ohio.
Rebecca has homeschooled all five of their children, mentored both national and missionary women, and served in administration, as a dorm parent, and as a teacher at RVA. She continues to be the foundation of the family as a wife, Mama, and Jajja (grandmother in Luganda), while also supporting the ministry at GTS and the broader work in Uganda. In addition, she cares for their two youngest sons and provides long-term care for close family friends in Ohio.
