Account #: 5354
SHIM (Shepherd’s Heart International Ministry) comes alongside Ugandan leaders in the Buvuma Islands to empower them to bring Christ-centered transformation to individuals, families, churches, and communities.
Some of the current projects of SHIM include:
- Pastors’ Training School, designed specifically for Africa and especially for those who cannot read or write.
- Lingira Living Hope Secondary School. A Christian boarding school through “O-level” high school.
- Child Development Program- wholistic child sponsorship program including school fees sharing and discipleship.
- Lake Victoria Pure Water and Sanitation Project, providing sanitation initiatives and village drinking water purification systems from New Life International (www.waterfortheworld.org)
- Namiti Health Centre II. SHIM oversees the medical clinic on Namiti Island, 30 miles out into Lake Victoria.
- Micro-Grant Program provides grants and training to Ugandan individuals, groups, and ministries for the purpose of helping them to be successful in their own Christian Community Development programs.
SHIM also helps support partners who run their own ministries, such as:
- Marathon Crusades International, Pastor Samson Mumbya. This multi-national, interdenominational team presents week-long evangelistic crusades in the islands or on mainland every quarter.
- Papa and Mama O’s Family Ministry. The O’s have been married for over 30 years, and have raised 6 amazing and Christ-like children. They do seminars in churches and villages and do private marriage and parenting counseling.
- Islands of Hope- Dr. David & Julie Ayer and family. IOH partners with SHIM and the Ugandan government to conduct mobile medical clinics in some of the hardest to reach islands. Effective evangelism and community development teams work hand in hand with the medical staff to bring the Gospel and holistic transformation to these islands.
- PEN (Pastors Empowerment Network), led by Pr. Robert Wafula, encourages island pastors and adds value to their lives through practical training for income generation.
- BISCCO (Buvuma Islands Savings and Credit Co-Op) started by Pr. Robert to give basic training in finances and business, and to offer small business loans to needy islanders.
