Facilities Specialist

Role Summary

The Facilities Specialist provides hands-on facilities maintenance and operational support to ensure the Home Office environment is safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role is essential to supporting staff, guests, and ministry operations by creating a workspace that reflects excellence, stewardship, and care.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and service-minded. They take ownership of facility’s needs, respond promptly to issues, and proactively maintain systems and spaces. This role ensures that physical operations do not become distractions to ministry, staff productivity, or organizational effectiveness.
Core Accountabilities
Facilities & Maintenance Support
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Complete physical labor tasks including lifting, carrying, moving, and organizing materials.
- Perform landscaping and outdoor maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, planting, debris removal).
- Operate basic tools and equipment (hand tools, mowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washer).
- Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, parking lots, walkways, and common spaces.
- Support basic property maintenance (light bulb changes, gutter cleaning, pressure washing).
- Transport tools, equipment, fuel, and supplies; refuel lawn equipment as needed.
- Assist with event setup and teardown, including furniture moves and basic AV support.
- Provide backup support for office and duplex cleaning as needed.
- Assist with vendor coordination for larger repairs.
Safety & Stewardship
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure facilities are safe, clean, and compliant with basic safety standards.
- Monitor building systems and report concerns related to safety, security, or infrastructure.
- Help maintain organized storage, work areas, and shared spaces.
Operational Support
- Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and preparation for meetings, events, or special projects.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers as directed.
- Support basic inventory management related to facilities supplies and tools.
- Attend morning video devotions and prayer time
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Communication & Follow-Through
- Communicate clearly with the Director of Operations regarding needs, priorities, and completed work.
- Track assigned tasks and follow through until resolved.
- Document recurring issues and solutions to support operational continuity.

Primary Outcomes
- Facilities are clean, safe, functional, and well-maintained.
- Maintenance issues are addressed promptly and consistently.
- Staff and guests experience minimal disruption related to facility needs.
- Preventative maintenance reduces unexpected repairs and downtime.

- Improved staff morale due to a well-cared-for work environment.
- Increased operational efficiency through proactive facilities care.

Requirements & Competencies
- Demonstrated experience in facilities, maintenance, or general building support.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance best practices.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Alignment with Global Outreach International’s mission, values, and faith-based culture.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or maintenance preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to follow instructions closely and work independently or together with a team.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
