Dear Family & Friends,

Great Commission (CRU) here in the Northwest region of Ethiopia needs financial help to pay for their office rent for the next 12 months. Rents here in Ethiopia are typically paid one full year at a time. While the cost for rent is equivalent to only $430 per month, the payment for all 12 months is due by August 31st, which totals over $5,000. 

I waited to make this need known because I wanted the national staff to have as much time to see if they could raise the funds locally. However, there is not much time remaining, so I wanted to bring this need to your attention now. Rather than simply being an office, the building serves as a strategic base of operations, not just for reaching the university students, but also for the other forms of ministry in which Great Commission is working in our region. I ask that you prayerfully consider how you can help meet this specific financial need to help support the ongoing ministry in this unreached region of Ethiopia.

With less than a 0.2% evangelical Christian population here in the Amhara region, fundraising efforts have proved difficult for the local staff. Before I joined staff, there were just three full-time staff members, including Misganaw—Dires (DUR-ess) and Muluken are the other two. The national office and the Jesus Film Project helped with funding in the past, but as of this last year, this region is expected to raise 100% of its own funds. In reality, even raising personal support has been challenging for the local staff. Therefore, raising the funds for the office in addition to their personal and ongoing ministry support has proved to be very difficult.
