Jamie Friedrich

In Zambia, children with intellectual disabilities are often seen as cursed, contagious, or a product of witchcraft. Less than. Discarded. Access to needed resources and support is limited, and families are left to navigate the unique challenges of having a child with a disability alone.
Jamie is partnering with Special Hope Network, an organization in Lusaka, Zambia founded on the unwavering belief that every child possesses inherent dignity and is created in the image of God. Special Hope is committed to addressing the challenges families with children who have intellectual disabilities face through individualized education for the child, high-quality training for the caregiver, and community advocacy and education. This approach restores dignity, empowers families, and transforms communities, creating a world where every child is seen and loved.
Jamie will be program director for Finding Joy, a transit home for children with moderate to profound disabilities with no immediate family to care for them. While at Finding Joy, children will receive the nutrition, education, and love they so desperately need, laying a foundation for them to understand their God-given value and identity. The goal will be to be reunited with a family who will love them and can effectively care for their unique needs.
In supporting this work, you are actively helping to rewrite the story for these Zambian children:
- From abandoned to accepted.
- From invisible to invaluable.
- From death to life.
Help envision a better future for these children who, for the first time in their lives, will come home.
