Phil and Teri Barker

We are in Uganda serving at Suubi Christian Schools under the umbrella of Global Hands of Hope (www.ghoh.org) – a Ugandan-founded ministry for community transformation. Uganda has the second youngest population in the world, meaning many children and young adults are deciding who to follow and what is true. Previously, when we had been to Uganda we asked what we could do when we saw children and young adults caught in generational poverty. The command "Let us not love with words but with action and in truth" doesn't let us just walk away. The Lord Jesus says, "Make disciples and...teach them to obey everything I've commanded." Phil focuses on Bible teaching and discipleship, while Teri will be helping with data collection and analytics. We followed Jesus and trusted Him as our savior when we were young [Phil at about six and Teri at 14]. That's the most important decision we've ever made, and since then, we've actively served Him through the local churches we've attended. We both attended Moody Bible Institute, and Phil completed his undergrad in information systems and a Masters in Biblical Studies. Teri finished her degree in accounting. For almost 10 years, we served cross-culturally in the Bahamas at a Bible school and as Director of Youth Ministries at a local church. We were then in the States for several years, and since 2024, we have been serving cross-culturally again in a partnership between Global Outreach International, our church (WoodlandsChurch.org), and Global Hands of Hope.
